Story time

We all love stories. From action packed movies to scripted reality TV. The moment one of our girlfriend's say "Girl...you aren't going to believe this..." we are tuned in. I have shared a few stories with you to let you know that whatever is in the back of your closet, let it out! It can't hurt you ever again, unless you're ok with those unwanted memories....I will caution that if you have experienced or suspect that you may have ever been physically or sexually abused, a trained therapist is a must.

Not everyone will appreciate your story, and guess what?!? That's fine! You will know who you feel comfortable and trust enough to share with. Own your story, trust your struggle. No pity parties. This isn't about all the wrongs, but how you can bring all the right! It's your social obligation to let your light shine.

Once you understand the importance of a story, you realize that you, the author of your life, have control of the upcoming chapters. You will connect and realize that you may co-author others stories and the realization will help you decide to how you want to be involved in these stories, if at all.

Stories explore experiences. We all have them- good and bad. They are our makeup just as our DNA. By sharing stories we invite others into our worlds. I invite you into my world and hope that one day you too will extend that invitation to me.

Experience is a wonderful teacher.

Living my life to the beat of my own drum

My friend asked me, "What does "living life to the beat of my own drum" mean to you? I notice people say it a lot but they do what everybody else does. Lol" I immediately thought GREAT post!

Here is my response to her: I think people just like to pretend to be free from the worlds restraints. & it's what we've been taught to say. But the restraints are what keep people from believing that they can actually do whatever it is that they want to. Plus it's safe to stay in line with the rest of the band.

Innately  my response is doing what I want to do. However, people used to always tell me, you can't do what you want. They wanted to revise my statement to include "within reason." People love to put limitations on others.

The only limitations you have are the ones that you set. You have permission and the right to do whatever your heart desires. I won't say within reason, because adults do what they want to do surrounding their value system and morality.

What's important to you? Go after it! Step aside from the drum line, leave the band, and be the soloist that you were destined to be.

Live. Love. Action
1. Smile
2.Take a deep breathe
3.Beat your drum and rock on with your bad self ;)

Pursuit of happiness

Sometimes in the pursuit of happiness you need to stop the pursuit and pursue the happiness.

A few years ago my Facebook status was "GPS set to happy." At the time I wasn't unhappy, but I wasn't happy. I lived in mere contentment with a smile. Some will move in here and never leave, and will think that's the place to be. It isn't. Now it's not the worst place to be either.

Life is beautiful. Sometimes life happens and it isn't so beautiful, but when you develop resiliency, it's all good and you truly have no worries.
A resilient person is able to bounce back quick from misfortune and tragedy. Resiliency is key to happiness.

I've had a pretty good life with minimal disruptions. Eight years ago my world was turned upside down. When I say upside down, I was dangling from a tight rope holding two children and This is when I learned my own resilience. Everyone thought I was living a facade and I couldn't be "ok" with everything that was going on. Honestly, I was fine. I accepted that I couldn't change my misfortune. I developed new goals that I needed to achieve in order to lesson my dangle from this tight rope.  I developed a positive mindset and optimism. This alone bread happiness for me. As cliche as it is, mind over matter.  "You are responsible for the energy that you put into this world." I'm a firm believer in what you put out, will return to you full force.

Live. Love. Action

1. Smile and laugh as often as you can.
2. Embrace your emotions while accepting things for what they are.
3. Saturate in optimism
4. Trust the process
